Books and Journals
Search Catalogue
Our print collection of more than 80,000 volumes (books and periodicals) is designed to support taught courses with the Faculty of English. Each item is given a "classmark" which tells you where to look for it in the library. Each classmark begins with a letter. The collection starts with A in the basement and continues alphabetically through the ground and first floors.
Exceptions:
- Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic books and periodicals (classmarks beginning with E1) are on the first floor
- DVDs and CDs and some videos (classmarks beginning with DVD, CD and V) are in Newman's Corner on the first floor
- The Tasker Collection of Caribbean Literature is in the Discussion Room on the first floor
- General reference works (classmarks beginning with Z) are on the ground floor
- Less frequently used books, including the Rare Books Collection, are in closed stacks in the basement. This will be indicated in the catalogue and can be requested at the issue desk.
