Moses and the Burning Bush

Image 245 Decorated page from the remarkable St Omer Psalter (c.1325) associated with the St Omer family of Mulbarton, Norfolk (see also Images 244,246). In the initial 'D' of Psalm 52, David argues with a fool. In the small medallions, a series of scenes from the lives of Moses and Samson, beginning, top left: 1) Moses and the burning bush, and before Pharaoh; 2) Crossing of the Red Sea and drowning of the Egyptians; 3) Giving of the law to Moses and worship of the golden calf, with Moses breaking the Tablets; 4) Moses raising the brazen serpent; 5) Building of the Tabernacle; 6) Samson carrying off the gates of Gaza, and with his hands bound; 7) Samson and the lion; 8) Samson pulling down the Philistine's house.
