December Calendar Image 687 At the foot of the calendar are two miniatures. On the left is a depiction of the seasonal activity of pig-killing. On the right is a beautifully painted grotesque, its goat head and front legs terminating in a snail shell. (A much less elaborate depiction of a similar grotesque is to be seen in British Library MS Stowe 17 f.11.) A deep border of arabesque and flower pattern surrounds the whole. back to previous page
