Spenser, Poetry, and Performance

The program is almost finalized for “Spenser, Poetry and Performance,” an exploratory research collaboration between the International Spenser Society and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, London. The event takes place on 12 and 13th June 2017 at Shakespeare’s Globe, and takes the form of a Research-in-Action workshop on “Performing Elizabethan Poetry: Spenser and Shakespeare” in the Sam Wanamaker Theatre, as well as a research symposium and a day of expert-led discussions about the connections and continuities between Spenser’s poetry and the performance values of early modern drama. Please join us in London for this very special, once-off event!

There is no conference fee, but as places are limited, we request pre-registration by email to Stephanie Elsky (elsky@wisc.edu) by 1 June. The final program will be posted in the coming weeks.

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London and the International Spenser Society collaborated on an exploratory study titled "Spenser, Poetry and Performance." A very remarkable partnership. The research's high caliber adds significant value to knowledge.
