In our last issue (43.2, Fall 2013), we referred to Luca Manini’s recent translation of The Faerie Queene into Italian as “the first full translation of The Faerie Queene into another language.” In fact, as Toshiyuki Suzuki discreetly mentions in his review-essay for this issue (as as The Spenser Encyclopedia reported in 1990), a complete translation into Japanese by Shohachi Fukuda et al. was published in 1969.  For a brief summary of the history of modern Japanese translations, see the second footnote in Professor Suzuki’s review-essay, appearing in this issue.
