Faculty of English Drama and Performance Seminar

The Drama and Performance Seminar explores questions of performance within theatrical and historical contexts. To complement the new Interdisciplanary Performance Seminar at CRASSH, which all graduates are encouraged to attend, this year we will be focussing on the relationship(s) between ideas of the dramatic and performance in practice.

The Drama and Performance seminar takes place odd weeks, in the Drama Studio of the English Faculty, 5-6.30pm.

The first seminar, on the 14th October, will offer the opportunity for postgraduates at any stage and new University members with an interest in drama and performance from any era and any perspective to introduce themselves and their work, and hear what others are working on. Dr. Zoë Svendsen (newly appointed Lecturer in Drama and Performance, English Faculty) and Dr. Joel Chalfen (recently appointed Associate Lecturer in Drama, Education Faculty) will start the session by introducing what they do, before inviting other attendees to contribute. Clare Foster (convener of the CRASSH series on Performance) will also introduce the opportunities available for those interested in questions of drama and performance across the university.

The Drama and Performance Seminar is convened by Dr Zoë Svendsen. Details of this term’s seminars can be found in the Events section of this website. Please email Dr Svendsen to be added to the mailing list.
