The editors wish to announce a change in the way items appearing in The Spenser Review are numbered.
The system we inherited seems needlessly complex. Each new volume begins, not with the January issue, but with Spring-Summer. As a consequence, each volume contains two issues from one calendar year and a third issue from the next.
Additionally, items appearing in any given volume have been numbered continuously across the three issues.
Starting with volume 46, number 2 (Fall) we began the numbering of items afresh, and will continue to do so with each new issue. We apologize for the belatedness of the announcement, an oversight for which editor David Miller takes full credit.
Starting with this issue, we begin each new volume with the Winter number for that year, bringing our volume numbers into alignment with the calendar year. This means, of course, that volume 46 contains only two issues, since what would have been 46.3 is now officially 47.1.
47.1.20

This seems like a sensible change to simplify the numbering system and align it with the calendar year. It should make referencing issues much clearer moving forward. Thank you for the clarification and for making the adjustment!
