Academic Visitors at The Faculty of English

Before you apply to become an academic visitor with the Faculty, you should read our information for academic visitors. This outlines what facilities are available to a academic visitor, how to apply, fees and deposits, formalities (letter of recommendation and requirements), visa procedure and when is the best time to visit.

To apply, you must send us:

Once we have accepted you as an academic visitor, you need to submit a deposit to us along with a plan regarding your accommodation arrangements while in Cambridge

It should be noted that the Faculty of English is not concerned with the teaching of the English language to non-native speakers, but with the teaching of literature in English.

In recent years, we have had academic visitors from Australia, China, Ireland, Japan, South Africa, and Switzerland, and the Faculty of English invites qualified senior scholars from overseas to be affiliated to the Faculty during a short period of leave spent in Cambridge.

Contact us on visitors@english.cam.ac.uk if you have any general enquiries about becoming a academic visitor.
