Research Interests
I work broadly on literature and science in the long nineteenth century. My research interests include the history of emotions, affect theory, the medical humanities, sexuality and queer studies, and the novel tradition in England and Russia.
I teach Papers 1 (Practical Criticism), 6 (1660-1870), 7 (1830-present day) and 10 (1847-1872) of the English tripos. I have supervised dissertations on a range of nineteenth-century topics.
