Research Interests
My research focuses on literary style, mainly in eighteenth and nineteenth-century fiction and I am especially interested in the depiction of speech and thought in novels of this period. I have worked on Jane Austen's writing in this regard and my current research is concerned with the presentation of dialogue in eighteenth-century fiction. I have an ongoing interest in the punctuation of literary works, typography, and the history of the book.
