Dissertation Title: Ernest Hemingway's Transcultural Experience in Transmedial Arts:The Influences of Diasporic Spanish and Cuban Artists
Biographical Information
Audrey Chan is a PhD student reading English at St. John’s College of the University of Cambridge and a Gallery Assistant at Heong Gallery, Downing College. Her research project focuses on Hemingway’s transcultural experience in transmedial arts and the influences of diasporic Spanish and Cuban artists on his writing. She was the convenor of the Twentieth Century and Contemporary Research Seminar at Cambridge. She has worked with renowned artists like Ai Weiwei to organise art events to explore the intersections between art and social activism at various institutions, including the Fitzwilliam Museum and Heong Gallery. She is also the Vice President of St John’s Samuel Butler Room (the MCR postgraduate society). She has also recently been awarded the Noonan Award, Frank Hollick Fund, Blake Emerging Scholar Award, and the Jim and Nancy Hinkle Student Travel Grants. Audrey earned an MSc in Literature and Modernity: 1900 to the Present at the University of Edinburgh with Distinction.

My research interest lies in the interdisciplinary studies between contemporary literature and the visual arts.
