Illegibles;

Marie Léger-St-Jean has come across three instances of illegible annotation, in the course of curating her Penny Bloods project (www.english.cam.ac.uk/pop/). Post any replies, please!

    From top down, my guesses are:

    Was i Not Right in saying aft: an old sailor

    Miss A H/N Andrews
    Her Book Doncaster

    E Holder 1841
    James (?) Robinson. 1898.

    I’d have said A M Andrews, especially since the ‘M’ is exactly like the one in ‘Miss’, on the same line.

    I think the scribbled out text in no.2 reads:

    Mr A. Fry
    Sudley Hill
