You may record lectures if you are a disabled student who finds it problematic to take lecture notes.

You will need evidence to support this requirement and to do the following: 

(1) Inform the Disability Resource Centre of your particular circumstances. This will assist the University in making an appropriate adjustment to improve your learning experience and will also help the University to facilitate the recording of lectures. You can do this by filling in the online Student Information Form, if you haven’t done so already: https://www.disability.admin.cam.ac.uk/student-information-form.

(2) Sign the Recording Lectures Agreement and return it to the DRC: https://www.disability.admin.cam.ac.uk/files/recording_lectures_agreement_2014_approved_version.docx

(3) By the Tuesday before term starts, email the EDI Officer in the Faculty of English (currently Alex da Costa, ad666@cam.ac.uk with a list of the lectures you will be attending (or that another student will be attending on your behalf due to your disability) and would like to record.*

The EDI Officer will then check that the DRC have received your Recording Lectures Agreement and get in touch with all the lecturers to let them know that you have been granted permission to make a recording. 

*If you are unable to attend lectures due to your disability and do not have a fellow student willing to make a recording on your behalf, please let the EDI Officer know.  

Adherence to these procedures will ensure that the Faculty of English is able to make a reasonable adjustment under the terms of the Equality Act (2010) in respect of providing equal treatment and equal access to educational opportunity for all students regardless of any disability, while respecting matters of intellectual property and copyright.
