Faculty of English Catering Policy

  1. The Faculty of English does not provide in house catering apart from tea and coffee for certain Faculty meetings and events.
  2. There are tea/coffee machines and vending machines located in the Social Space.
  3. Food and drink are not usually permitted in the ground-floor seminar rooms. If you plan to serve refreshments at an event taking place in one of these rooms you need to request permission to use Social Space: see paragraph 6.
  4. Requesting external catering for Faculty meetings/events: if you are a member of Faculty and wish to organise refreshments for a meetings/event that is taking place in a Faculty room, please mention this when you make your booking request to Reception so that options can be discussed.
  5. External catering for all other meetings and events: please request permission to serve catering at your event when you make your booking. It will be your responsibility to organise catering with an external provider who must be one of the University-approved caterers on the preferred suppliers list.
  6. The Social Space can in some cases be made available for external catering organised for events booked into Faculty Rooms. However, it cannot be reserved for exclusive use as it is primarily a public space for students and those using the library. It is unlikely that permission to use the Social Space will be granted for events taking place 9am-5pm on Monday to Friday during Term Time
  7. Permission to use the Social Space must be requested separately and a User Policy signed before use.
  8. The event organiser is responsible for leaving the room in a fit state for the next session. This includes tidying the room and removing rubbish and leftover food.
