Apply

Requirements

Applicants for this course must normally have a good 2.1 Honours Degree, or equivalent. If your degree is not from the UK, please check International Qualifications to find the equivalent in your country.

Applicants should note, however, that the majority of those accepted onto English Faculty MPhils have a first-class honours degree or equivalent. Applicants will normally be expected to have taken a substantial number of English courses at a university level.

Open Days

The Postgraduate Virtual Open Day usually takes place at the beginning of November. It is a great opportunity to ask questions to admissions staff and academics, explore the Colleges virtually, and to find out more about courses, the application process and funding opportunities. Bookings for the Postgraduate Virtual Open Day will open in September. Visit the Postgraduate Open Day page for more details.

Deadlines

Applications Open: Early September 2023

Application Deadline: 3rd January 2024

Please consider applying a few weeks earlier than this deadline as this will help us administratively and give more time for your referees to submit their references. If you are a US citizen and you wish to apply for the US Gates award you should submit your application by the deadline in 11th October 2023. If you are not put forward for funding your application will then be considered with the rest of the applications that are submitted in January.
