Faculty of English Catering Policy

The Faculty of English does not provide any in-house catering. This includes tea and coffee for meetings and seminars.

  1. There are tea/coffee machines and vending machines located in the Social Space.
  2. Food and drink are not permitted in any of the ground floor lecture spaces.
  3. The Social Space may be made available to hire for external catering organised by the event/seminar/conference organisers, however, as the space is primarily a public space for students and those using the library, it cannot be hired out exclusively.
  4. The Faculty’s recommended catering services are The University Centre and the Arc CafĂ© (located in the Alison Richard Building opposite the English Faculty Building). Please follow the links below for the services they provide, menus and contact details:
  5. If you wish to buy in catering from elsewhere, then the caterers must be on the list approved by the University.
  6. All conference organisers (including members of the Faculty) must buy in any catering they wish to provide, self-catering is not an option as it looks unprofessional and we do not have the staff to clear away afterwards.
  7. It is the responsibility of the caterers and event/conference organiser to make sure that area is left clean and tidy, and that all leftover food is removed from the building at the end of the day
