MICHAELMAS TERM 2022

Magazines of the British Black Arts Movement
Thursday 20 October 2022, 5–6.30pm
Milstein Room, Cambridge University Library

The Postcolonial and Related Literatures Research Seminar is delighted to host a workshop on magazines of the British Black arts movement (late 1970s–early 1990s) which emerged to promote the work of Black and Asian artists in the UK and develop a dialogue around the politics of representation. Led by Nick Brown (Librarian, Stuart Hall Library/PhD candidate, UAL), this interactive event will include a short talk and discussion, as well as a chance to handle seminal periodicals in the UL's collection such as Black Phoenix, Bazaar, Artrage, Polareyes, Ten.8 and Third Text.

If you would like extra time to view the magazines, please arrive at 4.30pm.

Spaces are limited, please book a free ticket on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/magazines-of-the-british-black-arts-movement-tickets-430372384387
