Decolonise English: Film Screening of Concerning Violence – 8th February 2019

Join us for our first screening of the term!

Goran Olsson’s 2014 documentary ‘Concerning Violence’ is based on newly discovered archive material covering Africa’s struggle for liberation from colonial rule in the late ’60s and ’70s, accompanied by text from Frantz Fanon’s ‘The Wretched of the Earth’.

Decolonise English is a campaign run voluntarily by students and staff in the English Faculty. Our events are open to all. We seek to raise awareness that what we learn and how we learn is part of the legacy of colonialism, and work towards an English curriculum that centres decolonised thought on gender, race, class and sexuality.

Entrance is free.  Step-free access with lift available.
